  • Michael Aram Furniture is handcrafted, with no two pieces ever alike.
  • Each piece in this collection undergoes a series of casting, filing, welding and oxidation techniques.
  • The finish is a result of a specialized patination process.
  • Please note that the variations in texture and color are inherent to the handmade process and enhance the beauty of this piece.
  • Every piece is truly a work of art.
  • The Butterfly Ginkgo Furniture Collection celebrates the representation of flora as fauna.
  • Michael's fascination with a particular type of ginkgo tree...Ginkgo Biloba, or "Butterfly Ginkgo", which grows with a double leaf reminiscent of a butterfly's wings...gave rise to a fantasia image of the plant.
  • Executed at the highest level of handcraftmanship, each piece is rendered in solid brass.
  • The pieces in the collection are a tour de force of Indian craft and capture the poetic spirit that is so deeply indicative of Michael's work.
  • "The first time I saw this tree, it literally looked like it had been completely overtaken by butterflies...as if they would all take flight the moment I walked too close or made a noise.
  • The idea that the leaves could evoke the beauty of butterflies was magical to me, like trees that can metamorphose from flora to fauna in the blink of an eye."

I kept coming back to this piece because it looked like it would suit my front room, and it does. The room feels more grown-up now, but it still feels like a place we actually live in. I spent more time than expected deciding on the placement, though I am happy with it now.

There is a quiet confidence to the console table that works well in my hallway.

We use my entryway all the time, and the console table has fit into that routine without making the space feel precious. The piece adds definition, but the room still feels comfortable. I was aiming for something that would work with what we already owned, and this ended up being the right direction. The area feels intentional now instead of like a pass-through. For me, that makes the console table one of the better choices we made for my entryway.

The rest of our living area finally makes more sense around this console. From different parts of our living area, this console still feels like it belongs with everything else. The best part for me is that our living area still feels relaxed even with this console giving it more structure. What surprised me was how easy it was to keep the room feeling relaxed around it, especially when friends are over. I am pleased with the decision and with how our living area came together.
