Estela is a captivating capsule of light. In Estela, Mayice designed a clean, clear, single piece of borosilicate glass. Hand-blown by the accomplished artisan Eduardo Garuti, the glass envelopes a cylinder-like wood veneer diffuser. The wood veneer houses a dimmable LED light source, and a straight opening on one side emits downward light that is softened by the glass. Offering a seamless connection between both glass and wood, Estela is a radiant lamp with a celestial-like quality. Similar to the dune, Estela’s natural imperfections, a characteristic of hand-blown glass, add to its warmth and elegance. Each lamp is signed by the artisan, Eduardo Garuti.

A feather duster or an air blower is preferable. In our more solid shades, a damp cloth may be used. Clean only the flat surface of the veneer with the cloth avoiding moisture contact along the edge of the veneer. The entry has a better sense of balance with this suspension light in place. When friends are over, it simply feels like part of the room. It has quietly become part of the way the room feels at the end of the day. It has been a genuinely good fit for our home.

The first time my parents came by after the room update, this suspension light felt like part of the room rather than something we had just bought. I specifically wanted the LED version, so this stayed on my short list. It works just as naturally on a rushed weekday as it does when we have people over. I would make the same choice again for this room.
