Estela is a captivating capsule of light. In Estela, Mayice studio designed a clean, clear, single piece of borosilicate glass. Hand-blown by the accomplished artisan Eduardo Garuti, the glass envelopes a cylinder-like wood veneer diffuser. The wood veneer houses a dimmable LED light source, and a square opening on one side emits downward light that is softened by the glass. Offering a seamless connection between both glass and wood, Estela is a radiant lamp with a celestial-like quality. Similar to Dune, Estela’s natural imperfections, a characteristic of hand-blown glass, add to its warmth and elegance. Each lamp is signed by the artisan, Eduardo Garuti.

Depending on the type of lamp use a feather duster, soft cleaning cloth or damp cloth for cleaning. On our the more delicate shades, made from wood strips, a feather duster or an air blower is preferable. In our more solid shades, a damp cloth may be used. Clean only the flat surface of the veneer with the cloth avoiding moisture contact along the edge of the veneer.

Monday busy breakfast is when this pendant light feels most at home in the breakfast area. The 1-light configuration was one of the few specific details I had in mind from the start.

For the breakfast area, a relaxed Saturday night is a better test of this pendant light than any styled photo.

Our kitchen area made the most sense once friends stayed longer than planned; the update made more sense once the room was full of people.

What matters most in daily use about this pendant light is how naturally it fits the way we use the house.

Monday late snack made me realize this pendant light had already become part of the entry. The LED version matched one of the practical details I had already decided on.

The kitchen area on a unhurried Sunday night is when I appreciate this pendant light most. The room makes more sense as a whole now, which was the goal from the beginning. I like it most when the dining area is being lived in rather than perfectly styled. It feels like a change that made everyday life in the breakfast area better.

Ordinary Wednesday mornings are when this pendant light feels least like a new purchase in the main room. The everyday routine has been a better test than any first impression. A few ordinary weekends made me appreciate the choice more than I did on day one.
