The balance in the living room changed for the better once this seat was there. What surprised me was how much the surrounding furniture benefited visually, especially during the ordinary parts of the week. I notice it without feeling like the whole room revolves around it. It made the corner feel inviting rather than simply filled. The room took one extra round of rearranging before I was completely happy with it.

In the sitting area, the rest of this room finally makes more sense around this piece. I am happy with the balance we ended up with in the sitting area.
