Michael Aram Furniture is handcrafted, with no two pieces ever alike.
Each piece in this collection undergoes a series of casting, filing, welding and oxidation techniques.
The finish is a result of a specialized patination process.
Please note that the variations in texture and color are inherent to the handmade process and enhance the beauty of this piece.
Every piece is truly a work of art.
The Butterfly Ginkgo Furniture Collection celebrates the representation of flora as fauna. Michael's fascination with a particular type of ginkgo tree...Ginkgo Biloba, or "Butterfly Ginkgo", which grows with a double leaf reminiscent of a butterfly's wings...gave rise to a fantasia image of the plant.
Executed at the highest level of handcraftmanship, each piece is rendered in solid brass.
The pieces in the collection are a tour de force of Indian craft and capture the poetic spirit that is so deeply indicative of Michael's work.
"The first time I saw this tree, it literally looked like it had been completely overtaken by butterflies...as if they would all take flight the moment I walked too close or made a noise. The idea that the leaves could evoke the beauty of butterflies was magical to me, like trees that can metamorphose from flora to fauna in the blink of an eye."

My wife and I rarely agree on furniture right away, but this table was an easy yes once it was in our living room. It was nice to hear someone else notice the same improvement I had been seeing.

Of everything I changed in our living room, this side table made the most immediate visual difference.

The balance in our sitting area changed for the better once the side table was there. What surprised me was how much the whole arrangement improved with one choice, especially with the rest of our furniture around it. The corner feels more complete without feeling crowded. I am pleased with the decision and with how our sitting area came together.
