After rearranging the space, the sideboard ended up being the piece that made the open dining area finally feel right. It works with the rest of our furniture instead of competing with it. It made the room feel more pulled together. I also like how the oak detail reads in the room without feeling too showy. It turned out to be exactly the kind of update we needed.

From the sofa, I can see how much this sideboard helps the dining room feel visually connected.

The dining room feels more coherent now, and this buffet is a big reason why. A couple of guests have commented on how finished the space looks now. It gave the dining area a proper focal point. It has already been part of a few ordinary days and a couple of times when friends came over. I am glad we went with it.
