The Volterra chandelier juxtaposes modern technology of LED light guide with a soft stone used throughout history. As a sculptor, designer Paul Marr Hilliard is attracted to natural materials. "Soft, subdued light with the translucent alabaster creates a warm glow. It's a beautiful stone to work with." We contrast that with an angular cut to the stone and have lit it each from both sides, creating a stunning wash of up and downlight.

Relaxed Monday afternoon, this chandelier feels especially natural in the room. The LED version matched one of the practical details I had already decided on.

For us, Saturday night is when this chandelier feels most natural in the room. I specifically wanted the LED version, so this stayed on my short list. On weekends, I notice it most when the space where everyone gathers stays busy a little longer than usual. I am glad we chose something that fits the way we actually live.

My sister noticed the room first the next evening on a ordinary Tuesday morning, which made this chandelier feel even more natural in the room. The LED version matched one of the practical details I had already decided on. Living with it through normal weeks made me appreciate the choice more than I did on day one. I am glad we chose something that fits the way we actually live.
