It is surprisingly hard to find furniture that feels distinct without feeling loud, and the sideboard gets that balance right. The room feels more deliberate, but not like someone styled it just for a photo. I was aiming for a room that looked considered but not precious, and nothing around it had to change. The dining area feels ready for both everyday meals and company now. It took me a few days to get used to the change in the room, but I would still choose it again.

Looking at our dining area now, there is more cohesion in the space now, and it happened as soon as the sideboard went into place. There is character here, but not so much that the space feels busy. What surprised me was how much the surrounding furniture benefited visually, especially when I see it from the doorway.
