Aviva Stanoff designed the Huckleberry chandelier with its leaves welded on forged metal twigs, carefully handcrafted then finished in contemporary gold leaf. Staff says of her inspiration for the six-light chandelier, “Traced back to Arthurian lore, it is said huckleberry garlands were given to knights of the kingdom for coming to the service of a damsel. They would approach the ladies, lower their lances, and give the small branches as symbols of gratitude; much like medals. I love that: the romance of ancient lore is a beautiful thing to honor.”

In the gathering space on a unhurried Sunday morning, this chandelier feels like part of everyday life. My first impression was more cautious than my opinion after living with it for a while.

The calm pace of a Thursday night makes this chandelier feel especially natural in the room. The 8-light configuration was one of the few specific details I had in mind from the start.

For us, Monday evening is when this chandelier feels most natural in the central part of the house. The best sign is that nobody in the house treats the space where everyone gathers differently just because the update is finished. On weekends, I notice it most when the space where everyone gathers stays busy a little longer than usual. I am glad we chose something that fits the way we actually live.
