The Bismarkia medium chandelier was inspired by the noble Bismarkia palm, with its oversized fronds. Marjorie Skouras, who designed the chandelier, has stayed true to her love of nature for this creation. Her passion for the Yucatan, the surroundings in which she lives and through which she translates flora and fauna into dynamic products in her studio, shines in this steel fixture covered in gesso white. The spiky ornamentations that splay around the bulbs bring immediate texture to the white chandelier.

Slow Tuesday morning, this chandelier feels especially natural in the space where everyone gathers. I had already decided I wanted a 10-light version, so that detail helped narrow the choice. This chandelier works with the rest of the space where everyone gathers instead of competing with it. It has been a genuinely good fit for our home.

A ordinary Wednesday night is when I appreciate this chandelier most in the room. It feels just as natural during ordinary mornings as it does during friends dropping by. The room still feels comfortable on ordinary nights and polished enough when people come over. It turned out to be one of the more satisfying updates we made.

For us, a rainy Tuesday evening is when the gathering space feels most complete with this chandelier. This chandelier works with the rest of the main room instead of competing with it.

Our gathering space made the most sense once friends stayed longer than planned after dinner; people naturally stayed in the room longer. The placement took one small rethink, though I am happy with where it ended up in the room.
