Compared with the room before, this sideboard makes the dining room feel more intentional without adding clutter. I needed a few days to get used to its presence in the room, and I like it much more now. It adds presence without taking over the room. The piece has a nice presence in person, but it does not make the rest of the room feel secondary. I am pleased with the decision.

After a few ordinary days, the dining room piece stopped feeling new and simply started feeling right in the room beside the kitchen. I have already stopped thinking of it as the new piece, which is probably the best compliment. It works nicely when we have people over. I was more interested in how the room would feel after a few weeks than in the first five minutes. We spend a lot of time in this part of the house, so I notice quickly when something feels out of place. Overall, it has been an easy piece to enjoy.

When the dining room is in everyday use, this sideboard feels especially natural in the space.

For a lived-in home, this buffet strikes a nice balance between noticeable and easygoing.
