For our main dining space, the credenza turned out to be a better fit than the more elaborate options I considered.

Here in the dining room, a lot of furniture looks good by itself, but this credenza also works with the rest of the room. I can change smaller things around this credenza without feeling like the whole plan for the dining room has to change. I went back and forth on where it belonged before everything clicked.

A month later, I am even happier with how this sideboard works in our dining area. The surrounding furniture feels less random now that this sideboard is part of our dining area. From different parts of our dining area, this sideboard still feels like it belongs with everything else. This ended up being exactly the kind of update our dining area needed.
