The woven palapa-style umbrellas of the Yucatan peninsula inform our thatched fixture of natural raffia and rattan. This umbrella-style chandelier is fringed with a flourish and then suspended from an antique brass-plated chain and canopy. The resulting patterns of light will add a textural, playful pattern on the ceiling and walls. The finish will vary.

On Sunday, a rainy afternoon is when the main room feels most complete with this chandelier. The dining room makes more sense as a whole now, which was the goal from the beginning. It feels intentional without asking for attention every time I walk into the dining area. It has been a genuinely good fit for our home.

Calm Wednesday morning, this chandelier feels especially natural in the space where everyone gathers. The dining room feels calmer now without feeling staged.

From across the central part of the house on a quiet Monday afternoon, this chandelier makes the whole space feel less unfinished. The longer this chandelier is here, the less it feels like a new purchase.

I selected this chandelier to bring the room together without making it formal, and the space finally feels intentional. The whole space feels easier on the eye now without looking overly arranged.
